Title: Spectral bounds, exit times and survival probability for stochastic processes
Abstract:
Given a domain in a metric measure space equipped with a Dirichlet form, we present results that relate the bottom of the spectrum to the exit time of the associated Hunt process from the domain. In particular, we establish spectral upper and lower bounds for the survival probability of the process. Our discussion covers both local processes (such as diffusions) and non-local processes (such as jump processes). Our results can be applied in a wide variety of settings such as manifolds, Carnot groups and fractals to name a few. This is joint work with Jing Wang (Purdue).
